Exploring West Cork's Ancient Pathways

Lizthedietitian Limited guides pensioners and walking enthusiasts through the stone circles and coastal routes that tell thousands of years of history. We're dedicated to making these remarkable landscapes accessible to everyone.

How lizthedietitian Limited Started

We're rooted in a simple observation: West Cork's archaeological heritage deserved thoughtful, accessible exploration.

In 2019, lizthedietitian Limited was founded on the belief that walking through history shouldn't require expert knowledge or physical extremes. We'd seen too many remarkable sites—Drombeg's Bronze Age circle, Glandore's pristine coastal paths—left underexplored by people who wanted to visit but didn't know where to start.

What started as weekend walks for friends quickly grew into something more. We began documenting routes, researching histories, and adapting paths for different ability levels. Today, we've guided over 2,400 visitors through these landscapes. Our routes span from gentle harbour walks to moderate hilltop treks, all designed around what we've learned from seven years of hands-on experience.

We don't just walk you to a stone circle and leave you there. We share the stories—what these megaliths meant to Bronze Age communities, how the landscape has shifted, why certain sites matter archaeologically. You'll understand not just what you're seeing, but why it matters.

What Guides Our Work

These principles shape every walk, every route, every decision we make at lizthedietitian Limited.

Accessibility First

We've built routes specifically for pensioners—graded by difficulty, with rest points clearly marked. No one gets left behind or overwhelmed on our walks.

Historical Accuracy

We partner with archaeologists and local historians. What you'll hear is grounded in research, not speculation or romanticized nonsense.

Landscape Respect

These sites have survived millennia. We practice responsible walking—staying on paths, minimizing impact, leaving these places better than we found them.

Community Connection

We're not outsiders exploiting a landscape. We're embedded in West Cork, working with locals, supporting small businesses, contributing to the region.

Our Walking Methodology

Lizthedietitian Limited doesn't just arrange walks—we've developed a structured approach refined over thousands of kilometres and hundreds of participants.

01

Pre-Walk Assessment

We understand your fitness level, interests, and any physical considerations. This isn't a one-size-fits-all operation. Different routes suit different people, and we'll recommend the right fit for you.

02

Guided Exploration

You're not following a crowd. Small groups—maximum eight people—allow real conversation, individual questions, and the flexibility to adjust pace. We've found this creates the best experience.

03

Historical Storytelling

At each significant point, we pause. You'll learn the archaeological context, the cultural significance, how this site connects to broader Bronze Age narratives across Ireland and Europe.

04

Reflection & Documentation

We wrap up with tea and discussion. You'll receive a detailed route map, historical notes, and recommendations for further exploration. The learning doesn't end when the walk does.

Why lizthedietitian Limited Stands Apart

You'll find walking guides everywhere. But you won't find many who've invested seven years into understanding these specific landscapes, building relationships with local archaeologists, and designing routes around the genuine needs of older walkers.

We're not a corporate operation . We're locals who care about these sites and about the people who visit them. That shows in everything—from the effort we invest in accessible pathfinding to the genuine conversations that happen during our walks.

We've had pensioners tell us it's the first time they've truly understood the Bronze Age. We've seen people who thought they couldn't manage a walk complete a full route and feel genuinely proud. That's what we're here for.

Important Information

The historical and archaeological information shared during lizthedietitian Limited walks is based on current research and expert consultation. However, interpretations of Bronze Age life and motivations remain subject to scholarly debate. Our guides provide educational context grounded in published research, but we encourage participants to explore further sources and form their own conclusions. Walking routes are graded by difficulty and designed with accessibility in mind, but individual physical capabilities vary. Participants should assess their own fitness levels and discuss any health concerns with their healthcare provider before joining a walk. Weather conditions can change rapidly in West Cork, and we reserve the right to adjust routes for safety. All participants walk at their own risk and should come prepared with appropriate footwear and weather protection.
